Some Facebook Users may create a fake profile with your name or your photo and pose a serious threat to you by sending threatening or abusive messages to your friends and relatives to degrade your image. In such cases, blocking that person from your profile does not make much sense as he or she can continue to do the mischievous things he or she has been doing to spoil your name. So reporting their profile is the only option in that instance. This is how you report the fake profiles of facebook.
1. Check for the
icon in the top right corner of the fake profile or below the timeline at the right side. Click on it to see the drop down menu and click the last option, Report/Block.
2. In the next pop up window, check the box next to Report this timeline or profile and then click on Continue.
3. The next window asks you to check all the options among the list that apply to your case. After checking all the relevant options , click on Continue.
4. The next window will give you the list of options you checked in the previous window and ask you again to review it and remove any reasons that may not apply. Also, it gives you the text box to fill in the reasons that you want to specify that may help the facebook staff understand the situation more clearly to help you. For example, the fake profile you are reporting may not have your name exactly, but still he may be using your photograph as his profile picture and he may use your nick name or put your name in other languages. So you can specify these reasons in text in the box and then click on continue.
The next window pops up asking your email id and/or telephone number for verification of your account. After typing your telephone number click on continue. Facebook sends you the verification code to your mobile number you just typed in. So the next window asks you to type in that code for confirmation. You type in the code and click on submit or confirm.
Then you will be given the message saying formal thanks for your co-operation and they will look into the matter and get back to you through your email or if needed they will call you back on your mobile to discuss about the progress of the issue.
